Renewed inspiration – 10 week pole challenge!
After nearly a year-and-a-half I again have calluses on my hands and bruises on my hips – and I love it! If you haven’t tried pole dancing before, or if you think ‘oh, that’s not for me’ – seriously, just give it a go! I’ve tried just about every sport under the sun – swimming, running, aerobics, basketball, netball, tennis, hockey, softball, volleyball, water polo…. but nothing compares to pole dancing (also called pole fitness, or just pole).
It’s no longer about seedy bars and g-strings, this is a serious sport. Just check out the efforts of some at the 2012 International Pole Championships! And don’t be put off by the initial pain, bruising, and calluses, it will all go away in time. Now I’m no fitness coach, but I swear if you combine pole dancing with other forms of exercise and don’t eat junk every day, you will be amazed at how lean and toned you’ll be in no time. Think about it, you’re using your whole body weight as resistance!
