How to manifest – Step 3 of 3: Visualise success
The final step to manifesting your dreams or desires truly is the most simple, but there is one thing that gets in the way for so many. In this, the third and final instalment of my “How to manifest” blog series, I’ll let you in on Step 3, explain what makes it so difficult for people to get past this last hurdle, and help you find your own way. I hope by now you know what you want, because it’s right around the corner for you…
Step 3: Visualise your success
To manifest your dreams or desires, you’ve got to see the future. When you were a kid, did you ever pretend to be something – like a ballerina or a mermaid, or perhaps a football star or a cowboy? Do you remember how it felt? For perhaps 15 minutes in the playground each day you would conjure up the most incredible scenarios and immerse yourself in imagination – and it felt so real. Right? Imagine if you spent 15 minutes each day using your imagination to visualise your dream or desire as if you already have it… pretty soon it’s going to start to feel real.
To manifest your dreams or desires, you’ve got to see the future. In Step 2 I told you about how I had a book cover made, printed and pinned to a board right next to my computer. I also created a preview video for my book, Walking a Thin Line. These are all actions that I took to start creating my future. These actions forced me to take myself seriously; to see myself not only as a published author, but as someone with a heartfelt message to share with the world. But I started manifesting my dream much earlier than that…
It was about 6 months after I started writing my book that I told a friend I wanted to work with Hay House. I love everything that Hay House stands for and I knew our values aligned. Another 6 months later, that same friend sent me an email with a link to an event she thought I might be interested in – the Hay House 2014 Writers Workshop. I had to take a couple of days off work, but I booked in. About 600 people attended the workshop, all of whom were given an incredible opportunity – to submit a book proposal to Hay House. At least one person would be guaranteed a publishing contract. I started crafting my book proposal, but I had a few moments of doubt and I almost didn’t submit it. I scraped in by the skin of my teeth. The deadline was midnight on Friday 5 December 2014. I submitted my proposal at 11.59pm. The winner was to be announced on Monday 23 February 2015.
Even though I had a few moments of self doubt, I still pictured myself back at the venue of the Hay House Writers Workshop – only this time I was the person on stage, sharing my story and telling others how I was just like them only a couple of years ago; with a dream and a heart bursting with passion and sitting right where they are now. (A little daydreaming never hurt anyone!)
…surrender and release
To manifest your dreams or desires, you’ve got to know when to let go. Set your intention, take action, visualise success, then surrender and release it to the Universe. What will be, will be. Seriously. Just let it go. Cling to tightly to your dreams or desires and you may find that they are continuously beyond your grasp. (Like the time I was certain I was going to win a brand new Jeep Cherokee in the ‘world’s most remote dealership’ competition, but I’ll save that story for another time!)
…trust in the Universe
To manifest your dreams or desires, you’ve got to trust that everything happens for a reason. This is without doubt the most difficult thing for many people to accept and therefore presents a significant barrier to manifesting.
On the morning of Friday 20 February, I did a manifestation meditation – this exact one, actually – and visualised me handing my book to Hay House. I remember thinking during the meditation, “this is a foot in the door to working with Hay House… a foot in the door to working with Hay House”. After the meditation, I had this inner knowingness that no matter what happened, everything would work out just as it was meant to. By staying true to my purpose and intention, I will share my message with the right people at the right time, for the highest good of all involved. I felt immense happiness and excitement for whoever was about to be announced as the 2014 Hay House Writers Workshop winner.
That afternoon, I received a missed phone call from an unknown number. I got home, checked my emails at 5.30pm for the first time that day (odd, as I usually check them regularly). I had an email from the Managing Director of Hay House Australia: “Kate, Could you give me a quick call? Thanks, Leon Nacson.” I sprang up from my chair and immediately rang the office number displayed at the foot of the email, but got the after-hours auto response. I typed a reply email, apologising for missing the call and “I hope to hear from you again soon”. On Saturday I received another call from a “No Caller ID”. I saw it and said allowed: “It’s Hay House”. I tried to answer but the slider on my iPhone screen wouldn’t budge. The ring ended. I checked my email. “Kate, I tried calling a few times today. Let me know when you can pick up. Leon”. I replied to the email… The next day I was at an all-day yoga retreat. I missed two more calls. That night, at 7pm, I got the call. “Hello, this is Kate…” “Hello Kate! Boy you’re a hard person to get a hold of! It’s Leon Nacson from Hay House.” I won third prize in the Hay House 2014 Writers Workshop competition and my book will be published!
Dreams don’t (often) happen overnight, but they do happen. Remember, Step 1: Stay true to your purpose and intention; Step 2: take valued action; and Step 3: visualise success. Then, accept that everything will unfold just as it’s meant to. Know in your heart that you have done all that is within your control to manifest your dreams or desires, now let nature take it’s course.
