Three reasons to escape reality and take an adventure
Have you ever wanted to take an adventure; to just fly the coop and escape reality? If you answered ‘yes’, but haven’t already, then what’s been holding you back? Do you, like most people, think it’s impossible or irresponsible to escape reality? Then that’s all the more reason to go for it. In fact, I’ll give you three reasons why you can and should “escape reality” and take an adventure now.
1. Because you’re right – you can’t really escape reality.
Our reality is this moment. With every thought, word and action, you are living your reality and creating your future. When I say you can and should escape reality, what I mean is that you can and should escape “the reality trap”.
It’s always made me a teensy bit angry when people judge another’s’ dreams or actions and justify those opinions with “the reality argument.” You know, “He’s not being realistic;” “She’s not living in the real world.” The thing is, my world is different to your world. Your world is different to the next person’s world. The reality we live in is our own. We share this world and this moment in time, but the reality we live in is our own. With each and every thought, word and action, we live in a reality of our own. We make choices, we deal with the consequences – whatever they may be – and we create a future of our own design.
If you want to create a future by design and not default, you must escape the reality trap. Are you creating a future by design (living your reality) or default (fitting in with someone else’s idea of reality)?
2. Because the best things happen when you adopt an adventure mindset.
Just think; if you desire to take an adventure to escape reality, but anywhere you are is nothing if not real, then you don’t have to escape reality in order to seek adventure. Every day is a new adventure and there is magic in everything if you only look for it.
Some of the best moments and greatest opportunities are presented to us when we have an open, aware, and adventurous mind. When you create some space for yourself every day and go within (through meditation, journaling, silent walks, etc), you also create greater awareness and mindfulness. This, in turn, nurtures an adventure mindset.
You don’t have to escape reality in order to seek adventure. When you’re more in tune with yourself and present in the every day, you are more open to the possibilities and opportunities of the moment, many of which can easily pass us by if we’re not paying attention.
3. Because when you seek adventure, you will attract more of what you want.
It’s easy to get stuck in the past; to see past events through rose-coloured glasses and get caught up in nostalgia. The trouble is, when we focus on what has been, we lose momentum and distract ourselves from creating or attracting new opportunities of a similar or higher energetic level in the future.
Instead of thinking, “it can’t get any better” and “if only it could always be like that”, shift your thoughts to those that will continue and propel the positive momentum. For example, “how can it get any better?”and “what next?” are phrases that open you up, subconsciously, to possibilities and opportunities. These words support an adventurous mindset.
When you can appreciate each moment and seek new adventures rather than wallow in the past, you will foster an environment conducive to attracting more of what you want.
