Real simple meal plan – Summer week 10
Meal planning can save you time and money but it can be tricky and time consuming to plan in the first place, which is why so few actually plan their meals for the week. Instead, they dash in and out of supermarkets, dodging people and picking up unnecessary items which only end up in the bin (compost, at best) or on the hips because you didn’t want or need it in the first place. No more. No. I’m going to show you how meal planning and meal prepping can be easy and something to look forward to like a cornerstone of sanity that lays the foundations for the week ahead.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll share with you my meal plans and meal preparation so you can see just how easy it can be, and so you have something to work from. Nothing is concrete, of course, make it work for you. There are no airs and graces when it comes to my meal plans. These are dinkey-die, fair dinkum, real simple meal plans. This is EXACTLY how I eat. You can read more about my food philosophy and how I eat here.
This series is based on produce that was accessible to me in the last month of summer. The last three weeks of summer, hence I’ll be accurate and say that these are my real simple meal plans from the 10th week of summer. I encourage you to mould these meal plans as necessary to suit your location and season. If you’re not sure about what’s in season or what would be a suitable replacement for something, just give me a yell.
Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy or at least find inspiration in my recipes and amusement in some of my quirky cooking choices!
Sunday meal prep
The first 4 things on the following list will take you about 1 hour to make if you’re efficient and don’t muck about. Print out the recipes, lay out all your ingredients, and work methodically. Then, all you have to do is put the chicken in the oven for about two hours and it takes care of itself.
- Fig and vanilla chia seed puddings
- Kale slaw salad (I’ll share mine with you soon, but you can also get packets from Woolworths, which I often do when they’re on special)
- Roast chicken for Sunday dinner.
Chilli chicken drumsticks with kale slaw salad and sweet potato fries (in rounds ‘coz its easier!)
